The Project Lab at the Museum of Land Speed
Something new is taking shape at the Museum of Land Speed, starting with your ideas.
The Project Lab is a hands-on, evolving space where visitors and local communities can help shape the museum’s future. Designed as a “working gallery”, it invites people to test ideas, share memories and explore what matters most to Pendine today.

This idea sits at the heart of a wider transformation project that will enhance accessibility, storytelling and visitor experience across the museum. Supported through the Welsh Government’s Transformation Capital Grant Programme, the project will introduce a new permanent gallery, improve displays and interpretation, and create more welcoming and inclusive spaces for everyone.
At its core is a simple idea: the museum should be shaped by the people who use it. Recent consultation with communities, schools and visitors has already highlighted a strong appetite for more local stories, better accessibility, and opportunities to connect with Pendine’s rich heritage.
The Project Lab brings that conversation into the museum itself. Visitors can move ideas around, leave feedback, and even contribute their own memories and content. This all helps in the creation and design of a new “Pendine through time” gallery that will complement the land speed exhibition, more broadly reflecting the place and its people.
The project will continue through to early 2028, with the Project Lab marking the beginning. We will share updates as the Project Lab evolves, and as we reach key milestones in the project.
